Interested in the position of Children's Pastor at FBC, Baytown?

First Baptist Church of Baytown is a growing church with a weekly worship attendance at around 500.  We desire that our children and their parents be actively involved in worship, Bible study, discipleship, evangelism and ministry.  We already have in place: a vibrant Children's Worship, Sunday School, Bible Drill, Summer camps, small groups, Vacation Bible School, Upward soccer and other events that promote outreach, fellowship and spiritual growth for children of grades first through sixth.  Now, we are ready for our first Children's Pastor.

We seek someone who, of course, loves God first and foremost, but who is also energetic, creative, and bold.  The Children's Minister should demonstrate initiative, administrative and organizational abilities and strong interpersonal skills with children and adults.  It is very important for this person to have the appropriate background to lead our children's ministry and be a team player with church staff.  It is imperative that the minster has a pure heart before God, be scripturally sound, and exemplifies Godly leadership.

We can't wait to meet the person God has for our kids!

The Mission Action Council received updates on a variety of actions at the May meeting:

  • Pastor Danny reported on the Prom Safe House event. About 20 students participated in the event and it was extremely well-received. Danny hopes to expand the event next for students attending proms at Goose Creek Memorial, Lee, Sterling, and Barbers Hill.
  • Facility improvements will begin in early June for the Wee School. The improvements include new carpet and fresh paint for the entire Wee School area.
  • FBC will celebrate America's Independence Day with a combined worship service on July 4th followed by a church-wide picnic on the grounds.
  • The summer mission trips are both on track. The Canadian team leaves on June 16th.  This trip, once dead-in-the water, is a miracle and the team is excited.  Despite recent unrest in Jamaica, the Jamaican team is scheduled for departure on July 25th.  The unrest in Jamaica is taking place in the capital city of Kingston.  This is significant because the team will fly into Montego Bay, which is on the western side of the island (Kingston is on the eastern side).  The ministry of the team takes place away from the city of Kingston.  Currently, Praying Pelican does not see the need to cancel the trip.  Praying Pelican and the staff are monitoring developments in Jamaica closely.
  • Completion of ambient lighting for the Worship Center will be during the week of June 1st. Access to the lighting will be shortly thereafter.

New action addressed at the May MAC meeting:

  • The Children's Pastor Search Team was announced and affirmed. Members of the team are Mike Archer, Wendy Barnhill, Francis Bradford, Carroll Burrell, Allison Carsey, Tiffany Coffman, Robin Cunningham, Jessica Rutledge, Dell Steyn, and Valerie Toney.
  • The MAC affirmed the concept of creating a "missions walk" in the walkway between the atrium and educational spaces and a "heritage wall" near the church offices.
  • The MAC affirmed using portions of the recently received church gift to complete improvements in the educational area and office area. These improvements include new flooring, fresh paint, and appropriate décor. The remainder of the gift will be held until primary needs are identified.
